Derek Lam Fall 2011: "There are no new steps only new combinations"

Today I had passes to the Derek Lam show at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. This is my third time going and I can honestly say that this was by far my favorite show. He blew the audience away.

Beautiful tailored coats, colored-blocked pants, clean lines, simple yet rich palette and flowing long dresses are a few of the words that I can think of when describing the collection. To top if of, he picked the most original soundtrack for the runway. It was classical music but very staccato. It gave the collection a very whimsical feel.

The show featured innovated fabrics recently created by mills as a result of increased pricing for cashmere, cotton, merino wool and silk. Some of the new fabrics were combinations of say, silk with nylon or cashmere with fur. So, if one word could be used to describe his collection it would be: genius.

Oh, hi Nina.

BRAVO.

And now we play....

Watching the Lela Rose show at the TRESemme lounge. My friends and I ended up getting our hair styled. I came out looking like a Texan pageant queen.

NYFW-Bound

Today I received my invitation for NYFW Fall 2011!

So excited to have the opportunity to go again. I'm going to go see the Derek Lam show. It's a bit of a red eye since it's at 10AM on Sunday. The travesty! What I mean is that Saturday I should take it slow and not go out. Last Fashion Week I proceeded to go out the night right after the Charlotte Ronson show (which BTW was not good) and ended up losing my camera at the universal burial ground: the cab. So this time I'm a bit paranoid. Can you blame me? Therefore, my to do list for Saturday night will be: 1) To not bring my camera out if I do go out and b) Just not go out cause that will lead to drunkenness 4AM karaoke.

Anyways, pretty happy to be able to dress up and surround myself with people worthy of being stared at. Which is by far my favorite New York pastime.

Michelle y Norein

This designer duo is a force to be reckon with. Ecliptica has been around for some time now in my native PR but it feels so good to see them transcend the island and reach NYC, the fashion capital of the world. Their clothes exude femininity, sexiness and confidence. Enjoy their Fall 2010 collection recently shown at NYFW...

Au Revoir to the Tents

This New York Fashion Week is the last one at Bryant Park. In September, the fashion world will pack their couture, lights, and runway and will move uptown to the Lincoln Center. So you can imagine how EXCITED I was when my fabulous friend invited me to the last Fashion Week at Bryant Park.

On February 14th I headed over to the tents, in the frigid cold to check out Herve Leger's Fall 2010 collection. It was so exciting to see what happens behind the pictures shown in the media. Although I was sitting down, we were PACKED like sardines. I couldn't take great pics but below are some, as well as legit ones of the show so you can admire how amazing his dresses were.

At the end of the runway dozens of dozens of photographers held fort all on top of the other, waiting to get the money shot.

and now the actual collection...
