Last night I was sweating like if I was a 15 year old girl front row at a Justin Bieber concert. The picture in your head is actually not that far off. Just replace preteens with a co-ed crowd and the Bieb with three cute California guys whose sole purpose was to make girls plot out a plan to get backstage. Okokok they did more than that. They blew the crowd away.
Foster the People last night at Terminal 5 was by far the most enjoyable and memorable concert I've been to in 2011. It is no doubt in my top 5 of all time. Mark Foster, the lead singer, left everyone in such a high. Hitting each note perfectly and playing every instrument imaginable. Let's not forget Cubbie Fink and Mark Ponitus were just as amazing and looked great (just saying).
So many bands now a days reach popularity quickly through the internet but can definitely lose all credibility once they sing live (ahem, Passion Pit anyone?). I can assure you that this is not the case for FTP. They are better live than when you listen to them in your iPod. Last night they kept the crowd dancing and wishing the concert lasted forever.
Practically their whole album is a compilation of hits so no song was boring, not even the ballads. And don't even get me started with the finale, Pumped up Kicks. They did this long version/slash remix of the song which went from normal beat to techno rave to glitch electro breakdown. Get it? I'm sure you do.
Next time they come to New York City don't even think it twice. I can assure you they'll make your top 5 too.
Love Foster the People. I recently became an addict to Alt Nation radio.
ReplyDeleteOhmygracious! I am a new fan of FTP, but I didn't find them via their top 10 single...I promise! I'm so jealous of the concert...I'm such a 15-year-old girl at concerts too haha. So happy to have stumbled on your blog! xoxo {av} | {long distance loving}
ReplyDeleteP.S. My best friend lives at Mercer + Grand...so when I saw your header, I smiled :)
