The Shins

The Shins always make me feel warm inside. Saw them at Coachella last Saturday and yesterday at Terminal 5. I have to stop busting of all my cab/dental work/GMAT money on concerts.  Kudos to bad finances at 26.

Bands in Town: Foster The People

Last night I was sweating like if I was a 15 year old girl front row at a Justin Bieber concert. The picture in your head is actually not that far off.  Just replace preteens with a co-ed crowd and the Bieb with three cute California guys whose sole purpose was to make girls plot out a plan to get backstage. Okokok they did more than that.  They blew the crowd away.

Foster the People last night at Terminal 5 was by far the most enjoyable and memorable concert I've been to in 2011.  It is no doubt in my top 5 of all time.  Mark Foster, the lead singer, left everyone in such a high.  Hitting each note perfectly and playing every instrument imaginable. Let's not forget Cubbie Fink  and Mark Ponitus were just as amazing and looked great (just saying).

So many bands now a days reach popularity quickly through the internet but can definitely lose all credibility once they sing live (ahem, Passion Pit anyone?).  I can assure you that this is not the case for FTP.  They are better live than when you listen to them in your iPod.  Last night they kept the crowd dancing and wishing the concert lasted forever.

Practically their whole album is a compilation of hits so no song was boring, not even the ballads.  And don't even get me started with the finale, Pumped up Kicks.  They did this long version/slash remix of the song which went from normal beat to techno rave to glitch electro breakdown.  Get it? I'm sure you do.

Next time they come to New York City don't even think it twice.  I can assure you they'll make your top 5 too.

Bonafied Lovin' a la Chromeo

Almost every time I go to Terminal 5 I go with the mentality that I am going to a ragin' party with live music. Everyone is always dancing, there are tons of bars all over the venue and the beats are contagious. Last night was no exception, Chromeo took stage and delivered a pretty good show. I got there a bit late so they had already started. They sounded great live and the stands for the keyboard and synth were ridiculous. They had the female leg stands that grace one of their albums.

Overall the show was fun, what made it not over the top EPIC was that it was pretty short and they finished with an OK song. P-Thug and Dave 1, always remember that you gotta go out with a bang! It doesn't matter, I still love you and would see you again a heartbeat.

Check out all of Terminal 5 upcoming shows here

The only pic I took of Chromeo. I was too busy dancing.

Another ticket stub to add to my concert frame. Which reminds me, I need to buy a bigger frame...

Cold War Kids

Few pics from the 1/29 Cold War Kids show at Terminal 5. They were exceptionally good. Apart from the two hipsters with matching glasses who were eating each others faces and blocking our view, it was an awesome time.

Their encore was "Sermons" from their new mini album, Behave Yourself. I think it was a perfect song to end the song. Nathan Willet's powerful high pitched voice and the piano really got to your heart. "LORD HAVE MERCY ON ME!"-You really felt a desperate emotion in his voice. Overall, my New York night was a success.

I know, I know. I need a better concert camera. Trust me, I'm looking. ;)

Another successful night. Thank you New York!
