Farewell to Summer: Output Edition

Today is the last day of summer and to bid adieu to my favorite season, my friends and I spent Saturday dancing until dusk at Output to celebrate Amanda's birthday. The weather was perfect and  Beto Cravioto definitely set a festive mood.  It was refreshing to actually see a DJ use vinyl.  Definitely worth checking out.

Such a fun set!

#notabasicbitchbirthday Yep, that was her hashtag theme.

A Puerto Rican sandwich for the birthday girl.

Seriously good people (oh, yeah, that's me!)

So long, my sweet sweet summer.

Jam Sessions// IT'S Friday

It's Friday and it is warm again in NYC!  Well, warmER...over 40 degrees. Woo! After some deliciously warm weather, the cold came back but only for a short stint.  I think it is gone for good until October.

If you are in town and want to dance to some sick tunes at a chill place, head over to The Plank in Williamsburg.  Good friends from the west coast with fine taste in music will be playing tonight.

Also, I leave you with my faves from Soundcloud this week

Enjoy the weekend. xo

It's Friday: Tune

If there is one thing that I am known for is having good taste in music, or at least an "eclectic" schizophrenic taste.  I honestly like almost anything and change genres constantly.  One day it can be full on Led Zeppelin, the next reggae roots, and later some French house. with some One Direction sprinkled in there (my guilty pleasure).  So, with that in mind, here is a song I've been playing on repeat for a while and will be playing well into the weekend.

Hope to make "Friday I'm In Love" a weekly blog series sharing just simple things I love, like music, a recipe, a link, etc. Have a great one and please leave that darn office early!

The Perfect Sunday Playlist

I've been compiling my favorite low key songs on Spotify for a while that make me stop to think, breathe, and reflect on life. I always tend to listen to the playlist on Sunday mornings.  Do I need to explain why?

Currently on Repeat: 30

My brother turned 30 on Tuesday and I made him this playlist for his party, which was a success.  I think a new career as a DJ is calling.

Too Damn Hot: What They Are Wearing

Damn, it's hot out!!! New York City has been scorching this week with temperatures reaching almost 100 degrees.  WWD snapped pics of what fashionable New Yorkers were wearing this week.  Check the whole slide show here.

Now I leave you with another great mix to help you ride the heat wave:

Goldroom as always, killing it.  Cheers to verano and the weekend.

Stay cool.

Friday Funday: Bondax Edition

I'm beyond obsessed with Bondax, two teenage boys from the UK that are WAY below my age.  I discovered them a while back thanks to Soundcloud, the best discovery engine out there,  and fell in love with their sound.  They reminded me of a mush between 90's club music, chillwave and funk.  I don't really know how to describe their sound because it is unique.  This podcast will give you an idea but all you need is to hear this ridiculously good version of No Diggity to fall in love.  Happy Friday.

Your Must-Have Playlist for 2013

If there is one thing you do today it is to listen and tab this amazingggg list of remixes VIBE has compiled for your hearing pleasure.  It is the only music you will need for a rooftop party or a day at the beach with friends.  Since I love you, I've compiled them all here, just for you.  But, really, THANK YOU VIBE!

It's Friday: Hurricane Sandy Edition

Sweet baby Jesus, it's Friday and my first day at the office since, well, last Friday.  I am so excited to get out of my week-long pajama attire and actually look like a person with dignity.  Commuting into the city will be a bitch but it sure will be nice to be back in civilization. Or the apocalypse.  We'll see.

It's Friday

Another random Friday (another random picture).  All you can eat sushi/sake for a friend's birthday promises a good evening.  One with a lot of self-control as I have a full day of chores tomorrow and a sake hangover is not in order.

Have a good weekend!

Friday Funday: Roadtrip! Well Kinda...

Tonight my friends and I are off on a "road trip" to Philly for a friend's birthday.  Due to the fact that we live in New York City and there is no reason to own a car or no way to afford one, we will be cruising our way there in the lovely, clean, spacious NJ Transit.  Commuter rush will be a bitch but as long as we have some wine in the handbag we will live.  Have a great weekend!  Will posts pics soon and of the Jay-Z concert from last night too. EPIC.

And now, for your regular Funday programming...Let's dance!

Trying really hard for this not to happen to me tonight.

Happy Friday. Now, let's dance!

Have you seen Molly? A Retrospect on Electric Zoo

Top five things I learned from going to Electric Zoo:

5.  If you thought the Ashton Kutcher trucker hat trend was annoying, then you have not seen a meathead in a neon colored muscle tee with inspiring words such as "Drop Beats, Not Bombs", "Electro Music is My Religion", or the oh so romantic "I Came Here to F*ck".

4.  The drug of choice for the youngsters is Molly.  How do I know?  It was written on the shirts/sunglasses/shorts/thongs of 80% of partygoers.

3.  Belly shirts, bra tops and pasties are a privilege, not a right.  Yes, I'm looking at you 160 pound, 5'3 white girl.

2.  Baby Boomers had The Beatles, Generation X had Madonna, Generation Y had No Doubt and Millennials have Skrillex.  Humanity as we know it is doomed.

1.  See #2.

I kid, I kid.  Regardless, had fun with my girlfriends, wore neon, jumped around and was entirely entertained by the people in attendance.  You got to try everything once, right? (Except Molly.  Kids, don't do drugs.)

Enjoy your day off tomorrow! So sad summer is over.

Ten Years Gone

Then as it was, then again it will be
An' though the course may change sometimes
Rivers always reach the sea

Blind stars of fortune, each have several rays
On the wings of maybe, down in birds of prey
Kind of makes me feel sometimes, didn't have to grow
But as the eagle leaves the nest, it's got so far to go

Changes fill my time, baby, that's alright with me
In the midst I think of you, and how it used to be

Did you ever really need somebody, And really need 'em bad
Did you ever really want somebody, The best love you ever had
Do you ever remember me, baby, did it feel so good
'Cause it was just the first time, And you knew you would

Through the eyes an' I sparkle, Senses growing keen
Taste your love along the way, See your feathers preen
Kind of makes makes me feel sometimes, Didn't have to grow
We are eagles of one nest, The nest is in our soul

Weird/freaky picture of my friend busting a move.  Happy Friday.
Hope you enjoy the song I'm sharing as much as I do.
