On Repeat: KYGO (Output Edition)

Okay. Guilty. I went back to the Output rooftop one last time this year before it got cold out because the day was perfect and KYGO, one of my favorite Soundcloud finds, was playing a set.

My best friend from back home came to visit and I threw her a bachelorette bash.  This was pretty impromptu and I didn't even know he was playing until we were on our way there in the Uber.  We waited in line for a while but since we got there fairly early, we got in before they started turning people away.  It turned out to be a perfect evening because the crowd was great and, really, KYGO, was just awesome.

If you haven't heard him then, do not worry, I've made your life easier and pulled some tunes so you can get a feel for his music.  Hope you like him as much as I do.

Farewell to Summer: Output Edition

Today is the last day of summer and to bid adieu to my favorite season, my friends and I spent Saturday dancing until dusk at Output to celebrate Amanda's birthday. The weather was perfect and  Beto Cravioto definitely set a festive mood.  It was refreshing to actually see a DJ use vinyl.  Definitely worth checking out.

Such a fun set!

#notabasicbitchbirthday Yep, that was her hashtag theme.

A Puerto Rican sandwich for the birthday girl.

Seriously good people (oh, yeah, that's me!)

So long, my sweet sweet summer.

Jam Sessions// IT'S Friday

It's Friday and it is warm again in NYC!  Well, warmER...over 40 degrees. Woo! After some deliciously warm weather, the cold came back but only for a short stint.  I think it is gone for good until October.

If you are in town and want to dance to some sick tunes at a chill place, head over to The Plank in Williamsburg.  Good friends from the west coast with fine taste in music will be playing tonight.

Also, I leave you with my faves from Soundcloud this week

Enjoy the weekend. xo

Eat.Here.Now: Mayanoki Sushi Supper Club

One of the things I love most about New York is discovering a hidden gem.  A new restaurant, a quaint neighborhood bar, an underground dance party.  There is so much to do in this city that it never gets old because you always find something new to do.

This is how I felt when I was invited to the Mayanoki Sushi Supper Club at the Brooklyn Oenology.  But then, we had to try three tmes to get a seat at this small intimate tasting event because it would get sold out immediately.  But I thought this was still unknown?! *Sigh* As every New Yorker knows, anything cool spreads like wildfire and, in no time, something modest turns exclusive in 3,2,1... ANYHOW, we ended up scoring a seat, and like they say, great things come to those who wait.

The story about how this club even exist is delightfully serendipitous.  Two friends always used to go to the same sushi place in Tribeca and they loved the chef, Chef Albert.  When the sushi place shut down they made it a mission to find him.  Long story short, they did and private dinner parties followed.  The parties got so popular that it ultimately became a business and found its new home at the Brooklyn Oenology, a gorgeous space in Williamsburg with New York state wines.  It was fate, clearly.

The sushi and the wine pairings were perfection and although it took a bit to get my seat, it was well worth the wait.

One piece of advice: Come hungry; and sober...ok, that's two.

Be sure to grab a few bottles of wine after dinner.  You'll get a discount and, trust me, you don't want to miss out. Every white wine we tasted was refreshing and smooth.  So, stock up!

Perfect summer night. Thanks Chef Albert.
